Calculated pressure-induced phase transition in MgF2
Relatively little attention has been paid to pressureinduced phase transitions in the Group II halides in contrast to the volume of work on the Bl-B2 transition in the alkali halides and alkaline-earth oxides. However, recently the rutile to fluorite transition in MgFz has been the subject of a paper by Nga and Ong,’ in which they studied this transition by molecular dynamics simulation based o...
متن کاملPressure-induced phase transition in SiC.
The pressure-induced phase transition in silicon carbide is studied using a constant-pressure ab initio technique. The reversible transition between the zinc-blende structure and the rock-salt structure is successfully reproduced through the simulation. The transformation mechanism at the atomistic level is characterized, and it is found that the transition is based on a tetragonal and an ortho...
متن کاملPressure-induced structural phase transition in the Bechgaard-Fabre salts
The crystal structures of the quasi-one-dimensional organic salts (TMTTF)2PF6 and (TMTSF)2PF6 were studied by pressure-dependent x-ray diffraction up to 10 GPa at room temperature. The unit-cell parameters exhibit a clear anomaly due to a structural phase transition at 8.5 and 5.5 GPa for (TMTTF)2PF6 and (TMTSF)2PF6, respectively.
متن کاملPressure-Induced Phase Transition and Mechanical Properties of Mg2Sr Intermetallics
A pressure-induced phase transition of Mg₂Sr intermetallics from the low-pressure C14-type phase to an orthorhombic phase (space group Cmcm, Z = 4) at a high pressure of 21.0 GPa was firstly predicted using first-principles calculations combined with unbiased swarm structure searching techniques. The phase transition was identified as a first-order nature with a volume drop of 4.7%, driven by t...
متن کاملPressure-Induced Antifluorite-to-Anticotunnite Phase Transition in Lithium Oxide
Using synchrotron angle-dispersive x-ray diffraction (ADXD) and Raman spectroscopy on samples of Li2O pressurized in a diamond anvil cell, we observed a reversible phase change from the cubic antifluorite (α, Fm3m) to orthorhombic anticotunnite (β, Pnma) phase at 50(±5) GPa at ambient temperature. This transition is accompanied by a relatively large volume collapse of 5.4 (±0.8) % and large hys...
